Matt Pike brings extensive pharmacy background to new position
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Smith Drug Company (SDC) has announced that Matthew Pike has been named to the newly-created position of Associate Vice President of Strategy, Industry Relations. In this role, Pike will work with Smith Drug Company to develop and operationalize strategy designed to maximize efficiencies and market share. Pike will also leverage his background as a resource for industry relations.

James C. Wilson Jr. to retire after 30 years with the company
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Board of Directors of J M Smith Corporation has confirmed Philip J. Ryan, III as Chief Financial Officer and appointed Kevin Welch to the role of Chief Technology Officer. Ryan will also assume the role of Treasurer following the retirement of James C. Wilson, Jr. on October 1, 2017. Wilson has been employed with the company since 1987, serving first as controller before being elected Treasurer and then being named CFO.

Lena Jouran to lead finance team
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Smith Drug Company (SDC) has announced that Lena Jouran has joined the company as Divisional Vice President, Finance. She will support both Smith Drug Company and Burlington Drug Company in her new role. Jouran replaces Kyle Waltz, who has accepted the position of Vice President Corporate Controller at the J M Smith Corporation.
“Lena brings with her an extensive background in managing the finance complexities of the pharmacy supply chain,” said Jeff Foreman, RPh, President, Smith Drug Company. “We are excited to have her join the team and expect she will be a tremendous asset to our organization.”
Smith Drug Company and Burlington Drug Company recently joined with more than 115 other health care groups to endorse bipartisan legislation that would prohibit pharmacy benefit managers from adding retroactive charges on Medicare Part D prescription drugs.
The effect of those fees is to raise costs for seniors, taxpayers and pharmacies.
